Mediation is an approach to conflict that brings together the disputing parties with a neutral facilitator; a mediator. 

Mediation respects that each person has their own viewpoint and ideas for how to resolve the conflict. Mediators listen, don't give advice, but help guide the conversation toward solutions while helping people meet their needs.

The disputing parties work together with the assistance of the mediator, to discuss possible solutions and find ones on which both parties can agree.
