SPRING 2021 ONLINE TRAINING BEGINNING May 19, 2021 (check back soon for all dates/times): Participants must complete ALL hours in order to complete the course and receive a certificate. The registration cost is $575. A non-refundable deposit of $100 is due at registration. Those who commit to volunteering with MSI will earn a rebate each quarter for up to 2 years (must volunteer with MSI an average of at least twice a month to earn rebate for that quarter- Rebate will max out at $475)

Basic Mediation Training consists of a mix of skill building exercises, practice role plays and interactive presentations (includes both live and asynchronous learning modules).
Each component is designed to provide opportunities to learn and practice the skills necessary to mediate. Including:
· How to listen effectively
· How to ask the right kinds of questions
· How to deal with difficult behavior
· How to help parties communicate
Qualified and experienced observers/coaches provide timely and personalized feedback during role plays. This training meets the standards set forth in Commonwealth of Massachusetts Trial Court Rules and guidelines adopted pursuant to SJC Rule 8b(iv). Mediation is a practice and it takes time to develop your skills, volunteering following training will give you valuable case experience after you complete this course and qualify you under the Massachusetts Gen. Laws c. 233 Section 23C (the mediator confidentiality statute).

Mediation Services works with area middle schools, high schools, and youth organizations to train students in peer mediation, assists in development and coordination peer mediation and other conflict resolution and SEL programming, professional development for facility staff, as well as mediation of conflicts between school community members. Providing youth with conflict resolution skills helps students grow in confidence, become peer leaders, and gives them skills for their future.
